A well-known Hollywood actress revealed her ties to renowned African-American rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. It turned out that Martin Luther and his wife Coretta paid the hospital bill for her birth.

Earlier, Julia's parents, Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts, opened their own children's acting school in Georgia and accepted Martin Luther King's children there, while everyone else turned them down because of their skin color.

The actress revealed this in an interview with journalist Gail King. It came as a surprise to her fans that she and her family were bonded to the famous rights activist.

Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter, Yolanda, made great strides in acting and later became a famous actress, and Julia and Erica Roberts' parents helped her when they accepted the girl of color into their school.

But Yolanda still had a hard time. When she was playing in the theater in 1965, someone blew up a car during a performance at the entrance, and the audience began throwing rocks at the stage. To make matters worse, Roberts' parents received threats.

When Julia Roberts was born in 1967, her parents couldn't pay the hospital bills. They didn't ask King for money, but the politician and his wife stepped in to help.

"The King family paid my hospital bills. My parents couldn't pay the hospital bill. My parents had a theater school in Atlanta called the Actors and Writers Workshop. And one day Coretta Scott King called my mother and asked if her children could attend the school because they were having a hard time finding a place that would accept her children. And my mom said: "Sure. Come over." That's how they became friends," Julia Roberts recounted.

This was an extraordinary act for the 1960s. And it must have made an impression on Julia afterward. "Exactly," the actress confirmed.
