The icon of Italian cinema actress Gina Lollobrigida has passed away at the age of 95 in Rome, Italy.

Lollobrigida was born in 1927 in Subiaco, Italy, to a family of furniture makers. She became famous for her role in the movies Fearless Little Soldier (Fanfan la Tulipe, 1952) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1956). She is also well remembered for starring in Beauties of the Night (Les Belles de nuit, 1952) and her leading roles in the romantic comedy Come September (1961) and the thriller Woman of Straw (1964).

In total she starred in more than 60 movies and is considered one of the most successful actresses of the 50s and 60s. Lollobrigida starred with Humphrey Bogart, Frank Sinatra, and Gerard Philipe.

Lollobrigida was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and was also a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor.
